EHS Certification
Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) is a concern that all companies have to manage. Awareness of safe working environment is more prevalent than ever, and interest in protecting the environment is a key issue for consumers.
To demonstrate an effective OHSMS (Occupational Health & Safety Management System), organizations are encouraged to consider ISO 45001 certification (formerly known as OHSAS 18001). Incorporating Annex SL to align with other ISO standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 45001 helps improve occupational health and safety performance with increased compatibility and uniformity with other management systems.
ISO 14001 can demonstrate to clients that a company has taken steps to determine and address its environmental risks and opportunities, compliance obligations, and other issues to improve environmental impacts. With Annex SL structure adopted as of the most recent revision, ISO 14001 is fully compatible with other ISO standards.
In the realm of recycling, scrap, and electronics end-of-life management, there are three primary standards at the forefront. RIOS (Recycling Industry Operating Standard) integrates quality, environmental, and safety management systems into one streamlined program to help scrap recyclers perform successfully. R2 (Responsible Recycling) demonstrates to consumers that an electronics recycling operation is responsibly managing worker health and safety, security, environmental impacts, and downstream factors. Finally, e-Stewards is a program designed to ensure proper handling and disposal of old electronics, taking into account international regulations and protections for labor and environmental concerns.
